Early Spring. Up close.

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Spring seems to have come early this year as evidenced by the number of weeds in our yard, and the early bloom of tulips in our yard. Today was a nice light rain to add a little interest to my impromptu photo shoot in the front yard with my macro lens … and PJs. I’m looking forward to seeing how these look as a super large print.

I wonder what beautiful greatness the rest of Spring will bring.

Nashville’s “Broadway”

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

I’m just now thinking that when I think of “Broadway” I think of entertainment and until now didn’t really think of Broadway in Nashville as such. Well, even on a Wednesday night Broadway in downtown Nashville was full of entertainment. Music was lofting from one venue after another as I walked down the street. There was also a fair amount of music coming from various performers along the side walk. What a cultural shift from where I reside just 20 minutes south of Broadway.

Sir McMahon at Sir Pizza

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Who would have known that such a neat little pizza joint would be tucked in a nondescript strip shopping center in the Bellevue area. So, Jeff McMahon and I embark, and indulge.

Is this “Sir Pizza?” Would you buy pizza from this guy?

This was a great place for pizza. What a pleasant surprise. And, it goes without saying, I always enjoy food and fellowship with Sir McMahon.

Sushi Lunch Date

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Nothing beats getting a little slice of time out with my wife. The only way to it could be better is with sushi. So we ended up at Ken’s in Nashville. I’d say Ken’s is on my top three of sushi restaurants in Nashville.

The Busy Hostess

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

I just returned from a week in Panama City Beach, Florida. I’ve been involved with a number of preconstruction condos along the beach in this market and have watched the area mature as it works to shed the long-time moniker of “red neck rivera.”

What stood out for me this trip was how Panama City Beach is very busy on the development side. I liken it to a hostess preparing for a very large dinner party. Panama City Beach is fast working on beautification with major street scaping, retailers are going in left and right, supportive businesses are dropping anchor and residential development is pushing forward. There is an exciting buzz around town as everyone anticipates the coming visitors.
The pending start and completion of the new international airport is a huge driver of the redevelopment of this area. St. Joe has a huge vested interest in the new airport and has donated thousands of acres of land to see the airport become a reality.

There is certainly a great deal of speculation that accompanies development of an area like this. As is usual, everything takes longer than anticipated. I personally believe the airport is three to four years away, while there were some that thought it’d be complete by now.

All this means that my personal real estate investments in the market are simply going to have to wait patiently for all the great things to come to fruition. Yes, once again, time is the friend to investing.
