NYC Inspired

Posted in Art, Photography on November 27th, 2007 by Kyle Dreier – 1 Comment

A few weeks ago I got to have a day just to myself and my camera(s) in New York City. I was drawn to so many visually intriguing things … primarily patterns and colors. So much so that I’m currently working on an eight piece show of paintings inspired by what I saw … and captured on film … er, uh … via digital.

Another Fine Home

Late last week I completed another exterior shoot for home builder Rob Marrero. He’s making my job easy by creating such good looking subjects. I think you’ll agree.

A Fine Home.

I’ve always had an appreciation and interest in architecture and building. I remember building Lego hotels (one room at a time) with my brother and I remember spending countless hours trying to drawing the ideal house plan … all this before I was in junior high. This week my interest is further satisfied with shooting the Bolt residence, a custom home by Rob Marrero in Legend’s Ridge. Granted I did have to scrap one evening shoot as the evening sky was not cooperating, but with a little patience, a couple days later I was able to capture some worthy shots.

Feeding the Addiction

On a recent shoot I had the pleasure of working around a team of baristas at Maxximo Jo’s – a drive through gourmet coffee provider – and I have to say … it was a yummy assignment. They will soon be opening a new location in my neck of the woods … further feeding my addition to mocha greatness.

Drawn to Details

I find myself drawn to nice details in subjects I get to shoot. A recent shoot for Julie Brown Interiors at the Howard residence in Brentwood proved to be a target rich environment for beautiful details.

Cecil at Farmers Market – Franklin, TN

Posted in Photography on September 6th, 2007 by Kyle Dreier – 2 Comments

Early one Saturday morning I ventured out with camera bag in tow to the Franklin Farmers Market. I found myself in an image rich environment. In the process I met some very interesting people. Just getting their photos wasn’t enough. So, I returned to see if I could capture some of their stories. Here is the first of many to come.

Light Chaser.

Posted in Photography, Wednesday Nights on August 30th, 2007 by Kyle Dreier – Be the first to comment

I chase light. That’s what photographers do. Whether they are controlling the light or watching the changing sky, we are constantly trying to capture the light at just the right time, the right angle, the right exposure to get what our eye and mind see into the camera.

I find myself making U-turns and driving with my head up near the windshield watching the sky in an attempt to race to a place where I can capture some of the beautiful light. Last night on my “Wednesday Night Out” I was doing just that.
Herein are a couple of the results of my chasing.

It’s amazing how just a few minutes can make a huge difference in the qualities of the evening light. Literally seconds after these shots I had nothing – no light worth capturing. It turned gray unlike the warmth I saw here.
In addition to my light chasing, last night I began I’m working on a project that will involve about 123 images to start. These images/project will be interactive for the viewer. In fact, it will require your participate. Curious? I’ll provide more info on this in the future. It will be about a 3-6 month project.

Stay tuned … and look toward the light.

Fun Date … with a cherry on top!

My wife doesn’t mind me going out on dates with … well, er, uh … with our boys. Blake and I ended up at his favorite spot once again.

This time Blake was craving a “Goessel Soda”. Know what one is? You likely find someone that does unless your in central Kansas. It’s a root beer float. It’s also Grandpa’s favorite.

I have to say that it wasn’t much of a sacrifice for me. I’m sure some day he’ll have a favorite place that I will despise.
