I saw this on a car at the Galleria mall yesterday in Cool Springs and LOVED it. My hubby & I moved to TN from New Braunfels TX 2 years ago. Part of my family is here hence the move, but there are so many things we miss about TX. Bluebonnets!! The great beautiful sky. Believe it or not, the weather. It’s too cold here LOL! (This at the end of a long hot streak this summer!) HEB. Central Market!!! No one understands here that Whole Foods, while being wonderful, is nothing compared to Central Market. Rudy’s BBQ. The rivers in New Braunfels, and Schlitterbahn. The live oaks and hill country. Tex-Mex – never thought we’d miss it, being originally from California where the Mexican is SO much better, but Tennessee mexican food is pretty bad.
I do enjoy Tennessee too. It’s beautifully green, the variety of trees and flowers in spring, the distinct fall & spring weather is nice too.
Anyway, love the bumper sticker, and thanks for this little forum to reminisce about TX!

I saw one of these stickers at Chuy’s in Cool Springs, and went nuts! I’ve been looking everywhere to find one. Finally found your blog! So creative, so true! I grew up in Midland, and miss our local tex mex chain Rosa’s so much. I even have my friends mail me jars of their salsa. Would love to have a sticker for myself!

Dear Friends,
My husband and I moved here in January, and just yesterday we saw this bumber sticker on a car near 440 in N’ville. I “googled” it, and this site came up! Here it is, May 2010. Do you have any stickers left?? We would be happy to send a donation to help with your beloved Ruby, as you must have her in your arms by now!

I am a native Texan, spent 13 1/2 years in exile in Ohio (sorry, Ohio, but the snow in the NE Ohio snowbelt was brutal on this Texas girl), and just moved to TN. What do I miss about Texas, though I go there several times a year? I miss Amy’s Ice Cream (I was thrilled to find Blue Bell here almost as soon as we arrived), viewing the Capitol from Mopac every day, the Alamo, and bluebonnets. But most of all, I miss my parents, brother, 96 year-old grandpa, and 70 year-old uncle who is developmentally challenged. I brought home a package of bluebonnet seeds from near Fredricksburg last week that I am going to plant this fall. Has anyone tried this? Did they come up? I wish I could bring my native Texan extended family back with me, too. Sigh…

I hope you have a sticker. If you do, money and gratitude will soon be on the way!

Yes, all those things are memories of Texas for me as well. Cotton Bowl music … I saw Journey, Sammy Hagger and Joan Jett at the Texas Jam. Fun.

Thanks for the bumper sticker. I’m just gunnin’ for points with my in-laws. They live in Texas but are moving to Tennessee soon and will keep a residence in both states, so this sticker is perfect for them. Me, I’m a ‘tweener (from Arkansas). Should I say that on this blog?

Anyway, we are more at home in Tennessee than anywhere else. As for Texas, my favorite memories are Six Flags as a child, the first Texas Music Festival at the Cotton Bowl as a teen, and The Velvet Elvis and adjoining soul food restaurant in Dallas (is that still there?).

Being a native Texan I appreciate all of your skills and efforts to organize a website for those of us now living in Tennessee. I still have family and many friends in the Lone Star state and visit there every chance I get. After reading many of the comments from other Texans, it’s amazing what we all hold dear regarding food, events and significant places. I grew up in Richardson and watched Dallas grow into the mega complex it is today. The 1000 acre farm that I lived on, rode horses and combines as a kid is now a hugh sub-division. My uncle took me to my first Dallas Cowboy game and I have been a fan ever since. I graduated from North Texas when it was NTSU. Here’s a brief stroll down memory lane -The Texas State Fair with the original wooden roller coster, the midway and sideshows, the Cotton Bowl, Texas-OU weekend, swimming at Vickey Park, dining at Southern Kitchen(s), Youngblood’s Fried chicken or The Rib on Mockingbird Lane, The first Steak & Ale restaurant, Hot link sausages, chicken fried steak, Nacona boots, Mrs. Baird’s bakery, touring the Dr. Pepper plant, Bluebell icecream, all of the original movie theatres in downtown Dallas (The Majestic, The Palace), The Gemini (double screen drive-in on I-75), The opening of 6 Flags with the campus revue, watching & listening to ZZ Top, Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, & Janis Joplin (before they were famous) Friday night football (an event in every Texas town), after game street parties, Mean Joe Green, The Dallas Texans, Dallas Radio stations including late night with Wolfman Jack from Del Rio Texas. Yes sir, a great place to live and grow up and definately a unique culture all its own.

I am from Houston, Texas and have lived here for 23 years. Same wonderful house across the street from a pasture with cattle. The Lord has confirmed that this is my new home by bringing a Longhorn to the pasture several years ago.
What I miss about Texas-
Used to be bluebell but we go that here on June 16th (oops forgot what year)-YEA!
BLUEBONNETS!
Wouldn’t mind a Fletcher’s corn dog, Ninfa’s green sauce or a James Coney Island.
To think I used to sit in a blind for hours waiting for the perfect three year old 10 point buck and they run across my front yard all the time!
I am sending in for some bumper stickers for my younger and “homesick” friends!

What a great idea! We moved here from the DFW area 9 years ago. While I love TN, especially Middle TN, I miss certain things about Texas such as Bluebonnets, real Mexican food (not this pretend stuff here,) Texas-style BBQ, the State Fair, Dallas Summer Musicals (the Music Hall itself is a plus,) Campisi’s, the Ballpark in Arlington, better shopping, and Mesquite trees. My daughter and I are native Texans (my Yankee husband claims to be “from” Texas but we know better.)
What I love about TN: the weather & definite seasons, deer and wild turkey wandering around, less traffic, beautiful rolling hills, historic homes, the Natchez Trace Pkwy, great people, and Smoky Mountains.
